Workshop on Comparative Politics Studies: Status quo, cutting-edge trends, and China
The post-1978 reform has unprecedentedly put China in a dynamic trajectory toward more mutual interaction and learning with other political systems, as one part of the recent landscape of political development. Understanding China as well as other countries’ transformation demands insights of comparative studies to unveil and account for new directions of convergence and divergence.
This workshop intends to analyze major research trends in comparative politics and locate China studies in that very context. Scholars are invited to report their studies on comparative political development, to share their vision about the research trends in this field, and to discuss China as a subject area of comparative politics studies.

About the organizers
The Dr. Seaker Chan Center for Comparative Political Development Studies (hereafter, the Chan Center) at Fudan University was established in 2012 thanks to a generous donation by Mr. Anson Chan, Chairman of Bonds Group of companies, in memory of his father, the later Dr. Seaker Chan who was a former professor of political science at Fudan University. The mission of Chan Center is to contribute to public welfare by fostering democracy, rule of law, good governance, and social progress by addressing challenging issues in contemporary comparative politics, especially major national and regional changes and reforms in the era of globalization so that useful lessons can be drawn from these experiences.
